Amanchu! ~Advance~ (あまんちゅ! ~あどばんす~ Amanchu! ~Adobansu~) is the second series of the Japanese anime series Amanchu!. As with the previous series, it is an adaptation of the slice of life manga series Amanchu! by Kozue Amano. The series focuses on two girls who join their high school diving club.

The series contains 12 episodes, and was produced by directors Junichi Sato and Kiyoko Sayama of anime studio J.C.Staff. The series premiered on April 7th, 2018 and is being simulcast in English by Crunchyroll.

SynopsisEdit

The second season is a continuation of the first season, following Hikari Kohinata, a girl born and raised in Izu, and Futaba Oki, a girl who just moved from Tokyo and is trying to adapt to a new life. The two are members of their high school Diving Club, and follows Hikari and Kohinata and other members of Diving Club as they train to get their Diving certifications and build relationships with one another. Futaba, having earned her Open Water Diving certification in the first series, is now aiming to earn her Advanced Open Water Diver certification. The series also introduces two new characters: Hikari's younger sister Kodama, and Kokoro and Kotori Misaki.

After helping out at Kino's beach house during a lunch rush, Futaba decides to return there the next day while Hikari goes scuba diving with the others. While there, Hikari accidentally goes into an outdoor hot spring without her bikini top, putting her at risk of being exposed before the other girls come to save her. Later, after Hikari holds a barbecue party for everyone, Futaba worries about what she'd do if she has to part ways with Hikari, but Hikari encourages her to enjoy every moment they spend together.

Natsu no Man'naka to Kirakira no Hitomi no Koto (夏の真ん中とキラキラの瞳のこと)

While Futaba is away for a memorial at her country home, Hikari befriends a girl by the sea who is fascinated by a mother octopus guarding her young - Futaba is determined to befriend her. Meanwhile, Futaba works hard as a volunteer helping to set up the local fireworks festival, working hard enough to earn front row seats in the VIP section of the festival for her friends.

Futaba takes the underwater navigation tutorial but is brought crashing back to reality by the realization that she may be holding Hikari back - but is able to successfully complete it after she remembers all the lessons she had been taught by her friends. After watching the twins go on a night time dive, Futaba wrestles with the feeling that she may be holding Hikari back.

Amanchu! Advance's opening theme is Crosswalk performed by Minori Suzuki. The series' ending theme is Hello, Hello (ハロー、ハロー Harō, Harō) performed by Maaya Sakamoto. The series also features an insert song called Tieleusha performed by Mina Kubota feat. Mistera Feo.
